Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:32)
Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding? (Job 12:12) Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. (Proverbs 16:31) The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old. (Proverbs 20:29) Children's children are a crown to the aged. (Proverbs 17:6) Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance. (Titus 2:2) Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. (Titus 2:3) Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. (Titus 2:4-5) Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. (Psalm 71:9) Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
