Woe
to you, teachers of the law and
Pharisees, you hypocrites! You
clean the outside of the cup and
dish, but inside they are full
of greed and self-indulgence. (Matthew
23:25)
First
clean the inside of the cup and
dish, and then the outside also
will be clean.
(Matthew 23:26)
Woe
to you, teachers of the law and
Pharisees, you hypocrites! You
are like whitewashed tombs,
which look beautiful on the
outside but on the inside are
full of dead man's bones and
everything unclean.
(Matthew 23:27)
On
the outside you appear to people
as righteous but on the inside
you are full of hypocrisy and
wickedness.
(Matthew 23:28)
These
people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from
me. They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules
taught by men.
(Mark 7:6-7)
You
have let go of the commands of
God and are holding on to the
traditions of men.
(Mark 7:8)
The
teachers of the law and the
Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So
you must obey them and do
everything they tell you. But do
not do what they do, for they do
not practice what they preach.
(Matthew 23:2-3)
Woe
to you Pharisees, because you
give God a tenth of your mint,
rue and all other kinds of
garden herbs, but you neglect
justice and the love of God. You
should have practiced the latter
without leaving the former
undone.
(Luke
11:42)
And
you experts in the law, woe to
you, because you load people
down with burdens they can
hardly carry, and you yourselves
will not lift one finger to help
them.
(Luke 11:46)
Woe
to you experts in the law,
because you have taken away the
key to knowledge. You yourselves
have not entered, and you have
hindered those who were
entering. (Luke
11:52)
Beware
of the teachers of the law. They
like to walk around in flowing
robes and love to be greeted in
the marketplaces and have the
most important seats in the
synagogues and the places of
honor at banquets. They devour
widows' houses and for a show
make lengthy prayers. Such men
will be punished most severely.
