Do
not love the world or anything
in the world. If anyone loves
the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. (1 John
2:15)
Dear
friends, I urge you, as aliens
and strangers in the world, to
abstain from sinful desires,
which war against your soul. (1
Peter 2:11)
As
long as we are at home in the
body we are away from the Lord. (2
Corinthians 5:6)
For
everything in the world - the
cravings of sinful man, the lust
of his eyes and the boasting of
what he has and does - comes not
from the Father but from the
world. (1 John 2:16)
What
good is it for a man to gain the
whole world, yet forfeit his
soul? (Mark
8:36)
The
world and its desires pass away,
but the man who does the will of
God lives forever. (1 John 2:17)
For
we brought nothing into the
world, and we can take nothing
out of it. But if we have food
and clothing, we will be content
with that. (1 Timothy 6:7-8)
So
from now on we regard no one
from a worldly point of view.
Though we once regarded Christ
in this way, we do so no longer.
(2 Corinthians 5:16)
You
adulterous people, don't you
know that friendship with the
world is hatred toward God?
Anyone who chooses to be a
friend of the world becomes an
enemy of God. (James 4:4)
You
have lived on earth in luxury
and self-indulgence. You have
fattened yourselves in the day
of slaughter. (James 5:5)
What
is highly valuable among men is
detestable in God's sight.
(Luke
16:15)
Do
not store up for yourselves
treasures on earth, where moth
and rust destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal. But
store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where moth
and rust do not destroy, and
where thieves do not break in
and steal. For where your
treasure is, there your heart
will be also.
(Matthew
6:19-21)
